MDSL-1000 Recoilless Disruptor & De-Armer
The MDSL 1000 Recoilless Disruptor De-Armer has been developed as a dual role equipment to defeat the threat posed by both Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and unexploded Ordnance (UXO).
When used as a Disruptor the MDSL 1000 equipped with the supplied disruption barrel the equipment will project a high pressure water slug into the suspect device disrupting the firing circuit and providing a high probability of avoiding detonation.
When used as a De-Armer and fi tted with the supplied De-Armer barrel it is able to fire a selection of steel slugs, chisels or forks to remove or neutralise the fuzes of air dropped ordnance and some land service ammunition. In De-Armer mode MDSL 1000 may also be used to neutralise IEDs such as pipe bombs and other metal cased devices.
MDSL 1000 is completely recoilless in operation and as such ensures minimal collateral damage in operation and enhances the safety of the operator. Recoilless operation is achieved by ejecting a water load rearward at the same time as the forward water load or steel slug.
The equipment is designed such that the rearward projecting water is dispersed quickly and safely.
The MDSL 1000 Disruptor is a multi-shot device capable of many firings and requires minimum maintenance.
Training may be carried out using the equipment without detriment to its service performance.
The MDSL 1000 is operated by a 0.5 cartridge. Each batch of cartridges are ballistically tested to ensure correct and consistent performance. The cartridges are supplied in multiples of 77 packaged within an M2A1 container complete with
all internal furniture and all required consumable parts.
